THE FIVE PRACTICES OF WELL CONNECTED LEADERS
#5 HAVE INTEGRITY - LIVE WHAT YOU'RE SAYING.
SPEAKER: MR JIM OWENS
AREA PRESIDENT FIRSTBANK
James I. Owens, Jr. is a banker, author and speaker. For more than 20 years Jim has been motivating audiences with an enthusiastic and humorous observations about life and business. At 6'7" and 240 pounds Jim considers himself the biggest kid in the sandbox. Much to the surprise of his high school counselors, Jim graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 1982 with a degree in Political Science. Jim has spoken to such groups as the Alabama Banker's Association, the Alabama AICPA, the Alabama Association of Government Finance Officers, and many others. He is the author of Forty Lessons in Leadership and is currently awaiting rejection notices from publishers considering his first work of fiction Long Trail Home. While not working at his day job as Area President of a Community Bank, Jim is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys backpacking and hiking. Jim completed his first and second Tough Mudder, a 12 mile obstacle course in early 2015. He is still nursing the cuts and bruises associated with that experience and is grateful for his orthopaedic surgeon. As you can likely see, Jim's mother often described him as "not like the other children." He continues to talk to his imaginary friend when he isn't talking to groups on such topics as Thriving on Change, Coaching as a Model for Leadership, and Building Fun and Effective Teams.
