Swapna Kakani is a motivational speaker in the area of overcoming personal adversity. Her inspirational life story is one of triumph over chronic illness and of developing individual resilience and self determination in the face of constant difficulties. Additionally, her experience in leadership endeavors, her community service, and in making an impact on the world around her, through insights on health and wellness are key components in her presentations. Swapna has given several presentations across the U.S. through medical conferences, medical school classes, graduation ceremonies, school & college assemblies, and non-profit events.
Swapna, originally from Huntsville, AL, a graduate of Randolph School, received her bachelors in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2013. Throughout high school and college she has led many student organizations and maintained an active service commitment, including starting her own academic & nutritional wellness program for 3rd graders at a Title 1 school in Huntsville. While at UAB, Swapna received the Aaron Lamar Jr. Scholarship and the Outstanding Psychology Student Award, for her academic achievement and active participation and leadership in extracurricular and community activities. She is currently in Leadership Huntsville/Madison County’s Connect Class 19 and has started grass roots advocacy initiatives for the rare disease patient community.
