The Mentoring Committee of the WEDC is offering a chance for you and your guests to join us for Wine and Cheese at Artistic Images Gallery on Monday evening April 18th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.   Meet the artist, Grace Wever, Ph.D. and view her latest collection of Fabric Art collages "Landscapes of the Mind and Spirit".    Grace will discuss her unique art form and how she went from a successful career as a scientist to living her dream as an artist full time in her retirement.  Hear first hand from the artist about how she creates her art work almost entirely from fabric.  Her pieces are often mistaken for paintings. You will find yourself saying, “How did she do that”!  Join us at Artistic Images Gallery to see this very special exhibition which will only be on display in Hunstville until April 30th.

Grace Wever retired to a full-time career as an artist from a productive career as a scientist and technical consultant. Her award-winning work is found in fine art galleries and public and private collections throughout the U.S. Her collages incorporate brilliant layers of silk, hand-dyed cotton, metallic and synthetic fabrics, encaustic wax and thread. Grace often works in series, incorporating spiritual and literary themes into her work. "Landscapes of the Mind and Spirit" is a collection described as "narrative art", since it tells a story that depicts the dark and light dichotomy of the mind and spirt.  This series was developed in collaboration with Lois Pope, Ph.D. of Alabama Psychological Services Center, to promote awareness of the Arts in the Community as well as to heighten awareness of issues related to mental health.   Other collections by Wever include “On Wings of the Wind”, a 12-part series illustrating King David’s poetry, and "The Striking Stone" series, which has 7 images depicting a dream sequence from the Book of Daniel.  You can preview some of her work on her website at weverart.net.

Please let us know if you are coming as the gallery has a limited amount of space.  Respond to Lois Pope by email loispope@comcast.net or leave a message for Lois at her office (256-533-9393).
